"who's miku" (something nobody has ever asked ever except for my older sister)
hatsune miku is a voicebank/vocaloid made by crypton future media. her name means "the first sound of the future" and her official personification is a 16 year old virtual idol girl. of course people interpret her as all sorts of things, she can be literally anything. the main recognizable feature she has is her long teal/cyan/blue/green/whatever pigtails. even if you don't know her name you've probably seen her at some point, or maybe like, a drawing of garfield with miku's hair or something.
as for why i like her, i think the concept of a 'virtual idol' is cool, and also, how could anyone not like her? her design is so iconic, and even before i listened to any music using her voice i really liked her. also her voice just sounds really cool depending on how artists tune it, for example, i really love how nashimotoP uses her. also miku is really pretty. oh and also project sekai is pretty fun. i know a lot of older vocaloid fans dislike it and i understand why, but its really fun if you ignore the whole gacha system. for the longest time while i played it, i didn't even realize there was one because all i would do is just play the songs i liked.
since she's so well-known its also easy to make friends because of her. i have a miku sticker on my phone and once someone literally came up to me and was literally like "oh my god IS THAT MIKU???" and we're kinda friends now. i struggle a lot with making friends so its nice to have that as a conversational topic. i've not yet had an experience where i've been able to exchange songs i like with someone but i'm really excited for if that ever happens. i wanna discover new music,,,,,,, i wanna spread nashimotoP propaganda.....
this is also a bit silly, but... i use her to help me when i get stressed out at school, you know, like that one tumblr post that's like "sometimes you have to be a bit mentally ill to get mentally well so if thinking naruto would be proud of you for brushing your teeth is what gets you to brush your teeth well grab that toothbrush dattebayo". actually i do this with a few different characters, namely volo from pokemon and frye from splatoon, but miku is the main one kinda. the idea of her wanting me to do my math homework motivates me to do it. i literally put the sticker of her on my phone because of that, so i can look at it and give myself motivation.
